| "Slap them, they are French" Toast |
We live in a world divided. Even as technology shrinks the
world and seems to bring us closer together -- allowing us to exchange
instant messages with unseen friends on the other side of the globe;
building ever smaller, ever more powerful phones we can use miles away
from civilization; making sure that billions around the world get to see
the Oscars live -- we citizens of the global village are rent asunder.
Differences of class, faith, and sexuality divide us. One may be
prejudiced against a stranger on the subway just because of the book she's
reading, or a fellow patron at the movies who chooses what one feels is a
substandard snack. But even in a world characterized by endless division,
we must find common ground, and remember what unites us; We all hate the French. |
